Wayward Strand is a moving, empathetic narrative game, that is woven from a number of different threads, all of which play out simultaneously aboard an airborne medical facility in the 1970s Australia.
Wayward Strand is a game in which Wayward Strand you play as Casey Beaumaris, a teenage girl who is visiting Hospital for the first time. Through three days, you will investigate the past of the ship, its lives of its inhabitants, as well as their connections to the other.
After arriving, she is able to go to the homes of the ship’s quirky and lovely residents. She’ll be able to pick the people she’d like to spend her time with as well as get acquainted with them. Then, she can shadow the employees and take a peek and explore the vessel as a whole, looking to find the dark secrets that lie within its history.
The patients at the hospital are a diverse group, having a myriad of different personalities some charming and some more eccentric than others – everyone with their own personal goals or desires and fantasies. Residents can do what they like, without regard to their role model.
For the duration of the three days Casey stays on board, the characters around her have their own lives to tell as stories she will investigate. Each character moves and acts of their own accord and on their own timetable sharing stories with one the other, sharing opinions, or arguing and joking, gossiping and even chatting with Casey as she passes close.
Casey will look into her airship’s numerous stories to see how her actions create an effect on them.
